Fill in this sheet before AI fills in a browser form

Write down the tab, the details the assistant may use, the fields you'll keep and the pages that stay manual. Works with ChatGPT's browser extension or any assistant you've let into your browser.

Before an AI assistant fills in a school trip form or a GP registration in your browser, fill in this one-page sheet. It fixes the one tab and form, the details the assistant may use, the pages it leaves to you and a stop before Submit. When it stops, check every field against the sheet and press Submit yourself.

Steps follow OpenAI's ChatGPT browser extension guide, checked 19 October 2026. The Oakfield Year 4 trip form example is made up.

Where a tool needs naming, this page uses ChatGPT's browser extension. OpenAI's guide says it works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi from the ChatGPT desktop app, and can read or act on sites where you're already signed in. OpenAI's release notes list Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi support under 31 August 2026. PCMag reported on 18 October 2026 that in Work mode, ChatGPT can fill in forms from the information you have on file and stops before submitting so you can review it first.

Two things are unclear. OpenAI's August note already let you ask ChatGPT to complete a browser task from the desktop app, so it's hard to say how much of the October form filling is new. Plan access is murky too: PCMag says the extension is available on every ChatGPT plan, Free included, while OpenAI's guide says availability can depend on rollout and your workspace settings. If your account doesn't show it, the sheet still works with any assistant you've allowed into your browser.

Check each field, then press Submit yourself

Check the form on screen. The assistant's list of what it filled can be wrong, as the example shows.

  • Scroll the whole form from the top, opening any sections that expand, and compare every field with part 2 of your sheet. Drop-downs and date pickers need a second look, because a near miss reads fine at a glance.
  • Make sure the only empty fields are the ones the assistant listed and the ones you kept for yourself. Any other blank, or a field you didn't expect to be filled, gets fixed by hand.
  • Check the address bar still shows the web address from part 1, and that no new tabs have opened.
  • Fill in your own fields and read the whole form once more before you press Submit yourself. Make any payment afterwards in its own tab, by hand.
