Open Gemini in Gmail or Google Chat and ask it to create a Doc, Sheet or Slides file from the conversation. Open the new file in Drive and check it against the source. If you also ask it to send an email or book a meeting, review the preview card before confirming.

Steps follow Google's Workspace Updates post of 9 September 2026 on creating content across Workspace, checked 17 September 2026. The Project Zebra walkthrough is made up.
Ask from Gmail or Chat
Stay in the Gmail message or Chat space that holds the work. That thread or space is the input. Gemini works from your signed-in account and only sees files and mail you can already access. You need an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan, English as the working language, and permission to create files in Drive.
Open Ask Gemini in Chat or the Gemini side panel in Gmail. Name the file you want and the conversation it should use. For example, ask for a project brief containing the goals, milestones and next steps, or a spreadsheet tracker for the project.
When the file is ready, open it in Drive and compare it with the conversation. Check the actual content as well as the layout: a tidy tracker can still contain a made-up owner or deadline.
Google lists file creation for Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra, Google AI Pro for Education, and AI Expanded Access. Frontline Plus is listed for scheduling only, and Google AI Pro excludes scheduling. The feature launched in English, with rollout starting on 2 September 2026 and taking up to 15 days. If it is missing, check your plan and administrator settings. Google says the feature respects existing access permissions, and that your data is not reviewed by humans or used to train Gemini models.
Example: Project Zebra from one thread
In this fictional example, Project Zebra’s goals and milestones are scattered across a Gmail thread. Ask Gemini for a project brief based on that thread. Open the resulting Doc and check each goal and date against the messages. If you also need a tracker, ask for a separate Sheet and check its rows. You could ask for a Slides summary from the related Chat space, but create only the files you need.
Confirm before mail or calendar goes out
If you separately ask Gemini to send mail or arrange a meeting, review its interactive preview card. Check the recipients, wording and meeting time, make any changes, then confirm. Creating a Drive file does not require you to send a message or book a meeting.
Before sharing, confirm that the file opens in the intended account, has the right format, and contains no unsupported claims, owners or dates. If Gemini could not access a source, resolve that gap before calling the file complete. If you also created a Google Task, open Tasks and check its text and due date.
